Summer is here, and it’s hot! But the event calendars of communities all over Alabama on are fire too, offering a wide range of activities, adventures and happenings to appeal to almost any interest.

Chilton County Peach Festival, June 20-28, Clanton
Join this monthlong celebration of Alabama peaches. Pageants, parties and tournaments are held throughout June, along with the "peach run," a peach parade, a cook-off, live music, auctions and more.  https://chiltonpeachfest.com

Watermelon Festival, July 3 & 4, Grand Bay
Grab the family and head to Festival Park where you'll find a whole lotta summer fun including arts & crafts, a petting zoo, pony rides, BBQ, a "pretty baby" contest, a car show and of course, FREE slices of ice-cold, sticky and sweet watermelon at this annual event now in its 49th year.  https://grandbaywatermelonfestival.org

Jazz Fest, July 9 & 10 - Alexander City

Montgomery Whitewater Grand Opening Celebration, July 7-9, Montgomery
The brand-new Montgomery Whitewater park is bringing the thrills and sometimes spills of whitewater paddling adventures to the capital city with two manmade, pumped whitewater courses, plus trails, an open-air music venue, a restaurant, bar and more. W.C. Handy Music Festival, July 21-30, The Shoals
This week-long celebration at various locations in the Shoals area honors Florence native and music legend W.C. Handy, who is known as the "father of the blues." 127 Corridor Sale, Aug 3-6, Gadsden
"The World's Longest Yard Sale" starts in Addison, Michigan, and ends in Gadsden, Alabama. The route spans 6 states (Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky, Tennessee, Georgia, Alabama) and is nearly 700 miles long. Youth Fishing Rodeo, Aug 5, Millbrook
The Alabama Nature Center's annual youth fishing rodeo invites children 15 and under to catch and take home up to five catfish, so load up the kids, a few fishing poles and a cooler. Sweet Tater Festival, Sept 3-4, Cullman
